About AI Image Detector

Most "AI image detector" tools work by feeding your photo's pixels into a trained classifier and returning a confidence percentage — "87% likely AI-generated." That number is a lot less solid than it sounds. Pixel-based AI-detection is a genuine, unsolved research problem: every new image generator shifts what the classifiers were trained to recognize, and a simple re-save, crop, resize, or light noise routinely flips a classifier's verdict. Published real-world accuracy for these tools is nowhere near 100%, and false positives — flagging a real photo or a human artist's work as AI-generated — cause real harm. This tool takes a different, more honest approach: it looks for evidence that's actually, verifiably present in the file, rather than guessing.

The strongest signal it checks for is C2PA Content Credentials — an open industry standard (backed by Adobe, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and the BBC among others) for embedding tamper-evident provenance data directly into a file. When present, this tool reassembles and reads the embedded manifest data; when it references a trained or algorithmic media source, that's about as strong a signal as exists today. It also recognizes Stable Diffusion's convention of embedding the exact prompt, sampler, seed, and model directly into a PNG's own text chunks (used by AUTOMATIC1111, ComfyUI, and InvokeAI) — when present, that's not a guess, it's the literal generation recipe sitting in the file.
